A Message from our Board President

This community facility is operated by the Société Place Maillardville Society, a non-profit organization offering recreation programs and services for the residents of Maillardville and the surrounding areas. Partially funded by the City of Coquitlam, the Centre has provided highquality programming at this location since 2001.

What a relief to leave 2020 behind and to begin a new year with the hope that vaccines will finally help us to get back to some sort of normalcy in the coming months. The Board of Directors are very proud of the work that our Executive Director and staff have done to keep everyone safe and to make the adjustments to programs and services that are necessary during these challenging times. We hope that some of you have been able to take advantage of our new and innovative virtual programs. Check out the latest program offerings in this new Program Guide.

The new year has also meant the start of construction of the new community centre building. There is a lot of work ahead before the new facility will open (later in 2022), but everyone is excited to see construction begin.

As we move closer to the opening of the new building, we on the Board of Directors know there are many of you in the community with unique skills and knowledge that could assist us as we look toward the future of this facility. We strongly believe in the true spirit of the term “community centre”, that everyone in our community should feel welcome and the services offered should meet the needs of the community-at-large.

For those of you who may wish to get more involved, we encourage you to think about joining the membership at the Society. The benefits of membership include: - opportunities for input into the development of future programs and services offered at the community centre - volunteer opportunities including on Special Committees, or as a member of the Board of Directors -members are invited to Annual General Meetings of the society and are able to vote for those seeking election to the Board of Directors and on any Special Resolutions being put forward by the board. For more information on membership details please contact us at

Happy Spring everyone!!
Bill Boons, Board President
